Welcome to the First Annual Team Mutiny “MnM” (Mutiny n Music) Beta Battle Tournament!
****What is the MnM Beta Battle Tournament?****
~The MnM Beta Battle Tournament is a contest hosted by Team Mutiny Studios specifically geared toward the making of anime music videos.
~This is a theme based contest, so each round will have a different theme, chosen by the judges that contestants will duke it out to best emphasize.
~ A bracket will be made for the competitors to use each round, listing how the rounds and themes will be presented and split up each round (Please see the beginning bracket at the bottom of this thread). The first three rounds of the contest will be a battle royale style tournament between two groups. Which group you are in will be arranged randomly. The final three rounds will be head to heads until we arrive at our final winner! Think of this contest as a grab bag, you never know what you are going to get or who you will be up against!
~This is a free contest and is open to all levels of editing (i.e. beginner-advanced).
~ There will be 64 initial slots open for this contest. All spots in this contest are first come, first served. That is, there is no audition required.
~The contest signups will begin in late September. After a week or two of set up and arranging the contestants into their specific groups the actual contest will run over the course of several weeks. Each round will run for a full week, with at least 5 days given to judging following each round. This being so, deadlines will be set each round, instead of on a fixed date prior to the contest’s start.
****Prizes****
There will be three prizes awarded in this competition for first, second, and third place respectively.
~First Prize: 40 dollar Amazon gift card (Can be awarded to Paypal if you prefer.)
~Second Prize: DVD of judge's choosing (This will be mailed to your address so you will need to be willing to provide your address post competition)
~Third Prize: Manga of judge's choosing (This will be mailed to your address so you will need to be willing to provide your address post competition)

We here at Team Mutiny are very excited for this tournament to begin, but first things first! We need each and every one of you planning to participate to read the rules and regulations listed below IN. FULL. Any violations of the rules and regulations listed below will result in immediate termination from the tournament without prior notice. This is your notice. So please read carefully.
****Rules and Regulations****
**Note: The rules and regulations below are not listed in a particular order, but all are important. Please read each point thoroughly. Please also note that important information about how to submit videos, how the competition is run, and other FAQs are included in the Rules and Regulations below. Please read every point before asking questions.
*** You must have an account on the forum to fully participate in this competition with that said continue on to the rest of the rules Thanks TM Staff~
1. This competition is open to all, but if you are a judge or someone directly involved with the scoring, screening, or organization of this tournament you are prohibited from competing. Team Mutiny members therefore are also allowed to participate as long as they are not involved in the judging process or otherwise involved that would give them an unfair advantage.
2. Multiple entries into this competition are prohibited. If it is found you entered this contest under the guise of multiple accounts you will be immediately disqualified and prohibited from entering this competition in the future. Only one entry per contestant.
3. The use of multiple animes per entry is perfectly fine. However, all entries must include anime. Any particular entry must contain at least 80% anime footage. Live action may be included, but it must be kept to a minimum. If you are confused on what qualifies as "anime" while competing please contact a judge or the coordinator of this competition. They are there to help you.
4. No gaming footage will be accepted in this competition. However, much like live action it can be incorporated if you wish. However, anime must make up at least 80% of your entry.
5. You are welcome to clip your footage, pre-round start. HOWEVER, you may not use pre made effects such as pre roto-scoped footage.
6. The finished video must be at least 1 minute 30 seconds per round. You may cut the song as you see fit, but any entry shorter than the 1m30s mark will be disqualified. No questions asked.
7. Bumpers and credits are fully acceptable. However, they will not be considered toward the time limit in your video as a whole. Be sure your video is one minute and thirty seconds long with ADDITIONAL bumpers and credits, should you choose to have them. If you have any questions concerning this rule, please feel free to contact either the judges or competition coordinator.
8. If you want to compete in this contest you must give prior notification of intent to participate. In other words, you must register officially by posting to this thread with your username and other information requested of you. The information we need from you is provided at the end of this post. No private IMs, skype messages, YT PMS, or other means of notification will be accepted.
9. Upon completion of your video please DO NOT post your completed product anywhere (the org, YT, Facebook, the internet in general) until the deadline has been met. This is to keep the competition fair for everyone. You DO NOT have to wait until the results are released to post. However, you DO have to wait until the round deadline has been reached. If it is found you posted your video anywhere that can be seen public before the deadline has been reached, you will be immediately disqualified. PLEASE NOTE: This does not mean you cannot send beta tests to friends or other people in the competition if they are willing. Private sharing is perfectly acceptable.
10. You must submit your videos through a video hosting site and a link must be sent to the contest’s coordinator (alchemymini) before or directly ON the deadline. Any video hosting site may be used (Dropbox, sendspace, mediafire etc.). Please let the coordinator know if you experience any issues in uploading or hosting your entry prior to the deadline. We will be willing to help you.
11. NO Youtube links will be accepted.
12. Please send your submission in one of these formats: AVI, MPV, MKV,MPEG2, MP4, or WMV. Using another file format will not disqualify you, but it may cause issues in quick judging assuming the judges cannot play your video on their respected computers.
13. Any videos with subbed footage will be immediately disqualified.
14. DO NOT use footage from other people’s AMVs, or AMVs of your own. All entries must be completely new products. Any theft of other AMVs (including your own) for footage will result in immediate termination from both this contest and future contests hosted by Team Mutiny Studios.
15. All judging is FINAL. If you or another person feel that a video that was submitted violates any terms, please notify either the coordinator or one of the judges BEFORE the results are released.
16. Any harassment of the judges or other contestants during this competition may result in disqualification as the coordinator sees fit. Therefore, please be respectful to those competing in and those running this competition.
17. All entries will be evaluated following strict guidelines. The judges will be awarding points in the areas of creativity, sync and flow, video quality, and execution of theme, respectfully. Each category has a possibility of earning up to 10 points, with the exception of execution of theme which may receive up to 20 points. For descriptions of these sections please see below:
a. Creativity—this category speaks for itself. How creatively did the editor showcase their AMV? How original is the concept? Has the AMV already been made a gajillion times over?
b. Sync and Flow—this category will evaluate how well the editor incorporates different aspects into their video, and how those mesh together with the music. This category will see how well the editor also incorporates effects or lack thereof, as effect editing and raw editing can either add to the experience or subtract depending on how well the editing flows in the video as a whole.
c. Video Quality--- Does the video have pixilation? Was the footage prepped well? Was the video rendered in a way that makes the viewing bearable? Please note, this does not mean you may not use older footage that may not be the most HD thing ever. All the judges in this competition understand that some research may need to be done in this category to give accurate points. However, at the end of the day it is best to think about this category more as presentation. For example, if you were to serve a meal to a judge in a cooking competition, you wouldn’t just throw everything on a plate. Food for thought.
d. Execution of Theme--- How well does the editor tie their editing to the theme? How well is the theme showcased? Can a viewer tell what the editor was going for? How clearly is the theme shown in the video as a whole?
18. You will only have one week to edit your video once the round is announced, no late entries will be accepted. However, if you are having issues please contact the coordinator so that someone may take your place, should you need to drop from the competition. Also, if you are having issues getting your video uploaded before the time clock hits zero, please speak with a judge or the coordinator. We are not monsters and will do our best to accommodate you should something like this occur. However, please notify us as soon as possible.
19. If something were to happen with this competition and it has to be postponed or cancelled, a notification will be sent out via PM on the TM boards and in the Skype chat for the competition (to be completed after registration) only.
a. The organizers reserve the right to postpone or cancel at any time.
20. Decisions regarding disqualification are within the hands of the organizers entirely and will be final decisions.
21. Each round the judges will fill out a worksheet for each rounds videos and their totals will be calculated to decide the winners. These worksheets will be available for download after the results are released each round so contestants can see their scores if they wish. Please PM the coordinator after each round if you would like to see the judge's worksheet.
22. Any use of racists, sexist, pornographic, or otherwise offensive materials or messages will result in immediate disqualification and inability to participate in this competition in the future.
**Note: If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about any of the rules, regulations, or how this competition is set up please feel free to contact the contest coordinator (alchemymini) or any of the other judges who are co-coordinating this tournament (ChaosGodProductions, drango, or Camichan19)
