Annnnd the theme is......
Talespin!
(Yes....someone shoot me for the awful name)
Basic: Take an anime series and give it an alternative spin- tell a different story.
For example: Take a series that fits a certain genre and flip it around (sad story to happy, romance to horror, lighthearted story to dark ect), make a villain into a hero, or make a new love story between characters with barely any canon interaction, even create an alternate universe! Make a character that’s canonically alive a ghost, or go for the dramatic killing off a character! Options are only as limited as your imagination.
Crossovers are not allowed this round, but feel free to use other footage from different shows for scenery or manipulation purposes (if you need shots of a dead body for a “killed off character” feel free to use some from another series. But no straight up crossovers). If there are any questions about what counts in that matter feel free to come to any of the judges to ask.
Don't feel forced to be brilliantly technical- the strongest storytelling can be from scene composition and music choice alone.
All that is desired out of this round is alternative execution of tone and story that comes from one's own creativity.
For reference, great examples of story-manipulation can be found in these AMVs:
Something Wicked
The Yuri-ning
Exposed
It's Better to Have Loved and Lost
Tollkirsche
The Yin, the Yang and the Girl
Because Harima Had To Go
Bye: The Sea
